Legia make flying start

Legia Warszawa started their Polish champions group matches in style with a 1-0 win over ten-man GKS Katowice on Friday.
Sokolowski on target
Legia took the lead through a 35th-minute Tomasz Sokolowski penalty at the Wojska Polskiego stadium but it took the dismissal of Krzysztof Gajtowski for a second bookable offence with 17 minutes to go for Katowice’s chances of an equaliser to fade.
Ruch make flying start
KS Ruch Chorzów made a good start to their campaign with a 3-1 victory over KP Polonia Warszawa, though they had to come from behind to secure their win.
Comfortable win
Mariusz Srutwa put Polonia into the lead after 28 minutes but Ruch quickly cancelled out the deficit with Igor Golaszewski levelling the scores four minutes before half-time. Ruch then piled on the pressure and Krzysztof Bizacki and Jan Wos both scored to lead their side to a comfortable win.
