We informed that CWKS Legia activists came up with an idea to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the club’s foundation with transportation of the ashes of the legendary footballer, Kazimierz Deyna, to Warsaw. When the news came to knowledge of “Kaka’s” wife, Mariola Deyna, who lives in San Diego, she sent a letter to the authors of the web site devoted to her husband in which she expressed her strong disapproval of the entire initiative.
- Millions of Poles treat Kazimierz Deyna as the national treasure. His ashes should rest by the Vistula River. We have the full right to them. The 90th anniversary of the club’s foundation which will be celebrated next year would be an ideal moment to bring Deyna’s ashes to Poland. We will soon discuss the matter with Kazimierz’s wife Mariola and son Hubert. I’m going to ask them for their acceptance of our request. I don’t think that it would be faux pas on our part - said Jacek Gmoch, the man standing behind the idea. Kazimierz Deyna died on 1 September 1989. He was buried at El Camino Memorial Park & Mortuary in San Diego, USA.
